The Limerick Summary: 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship

Winner: Henrik Stenson

Around the wider world of golf: Rocco Mediate chatted his way to a runaway victory at the Shaw Charity Classic on the Champions Tour; Trevor Immelman pretty much locked up his Tour card by winning the Hotel Fitness Championship, the first event of the new Web.com Tour Playoffs; Gregory Bourdy won the ISPS Handa Wales Open on the ET; Suzann Pettersen got her second win of the year at the LPGA's Safeway Classic; Catriona Matthew won the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open on the LET; and Sun-Ju Ahn won the Nitori Ladies on the JLPGA. (The Constructivist has details.)

Swede victory

It was only a matter of time, wasn't it? After so many Top5s in the last few months, after having so many titles grabbed from him by just a stroke or two, I guess you can call this one Swede Revenge.

He's been knocked from the highest tiers of the game twice, as soon as with the aid of driver yips and maximum currently with the aid of a aggregate of poor play and economic disaster. (Some of the rumors say he misplaced as a great deal as $5million. Yeah, I suppose that would reduce to rubble each person's recreation.)

But Henrik Stenson in no way seems to lose his remedy or his humorousness. He labored and smiled his manner right via it all... And it's all paid off. It's tough now not to root for Stenson -- in spite of everything, would not all people love a man who takes it at the chin and simply won't move down? I suspect this win goes to be very famous at the Tour.

Except perhaps with the gamers hoping to win the FedExCup. Henrik is now #1 with only one match left before the reset. Unless any person does something surely large at the BMW or Stenson performs virtually terrible (exact good fortune with that 2nd one, boys!), the big Swede will "control his very own destiny" at the Tour Championship.

How excessive will he be inside the OWGR these days? He became #10 ultimate week. I'm not certain how high he'll bounce, although I'll be amazed if he is not as a minimum #6, maybe #5...

But that will in all likelihood only be a quick prevent on his adventure up!

So today's Limerick Summary salutes the man dubbed by some as the Stensonator. Beware, would-be FedExCup winners... HE'LL BE BACK!

Henrik pounded his drives down the middle;

He didn?T draw back, even a bit.

He?S performed with the bottom;

You want guts? He?S were given ?Em!

They’ve made his game fit as a fiddle. The photo came from the Deutsche Bank tournament page at PGATOUR.com.
