The Kids of 2012

In my final retrospective of 2012, I want to study the PGA Tour. (I consist of the Web.Com Tour in this as nicely, considering the fact that numerous of the players bounce back and forth.) And satirically, it is able to be the shortest of the 3 posts I've finished.

That's due to the fact 2012 is going to be a difficult act to observe. It appeared like every week we had new storylines, new drama, new names moving into the highlight. We had Tiger's reemergence, monster comebacks in final rounds (typically 6-7 strokes), blow-out wins (Rory's eight-stroke win at the PGA), dramatic first-time wins (Bubba's wedge to win the Masters), controversy over belly putters, and novices who showed up the veterans.

So what can 2013 probably provide us?

The most likely highlight might be a Tiger-Rory competition. Tiger seems to have his sport to the point in which he can awareness on satisfactory-tuning, and Rory appears to have found out how to stability his personal and expert lives enough to play splendid (if no longer steady) golf.

As matters stand now, I think Luke Donald and Lee Westwood will hold to round out the Top four within the OWGR. Louis Oosthuizen and perhaps Charl Schwartzel should make it a Top 6, despite the fact that that remains to be visible. Louis may want to have received 6 or 7 times in 2012 had he performed only a few holes better. Charl appears to ultimately be healed up. The two of them have shown streaks of brilliance during the last two years, however are missing some consistency. If they placed things collectively even though, be careful.

The rest of the Tour is not probable to project this institution consistently. I don't imply we might not see some terrific play from numerous players; I just mean it will likely be loads of players that trade from week to week, no longer a few consistent challengers.

And I might not be amazed if "Wozzleroy" will become an engaged couple someday in the course of the coming 12 months. I do not suppose it's going to have a massive effect on Rory's play, simply that it can be the massive information story of the yr. (Yes, even larger than belly putters. That problem could be greater emotional, though.)

Speaking of belly putters, look for a few new technologically-advanced putters. I don't assume they'll really help, however the manufacturers will come up with some thing to turn out to be the new cash cow.

After all, in case you're reading this, the Mayans have been wrong and it seems like you're going to need to learn how to putt in any case. ;-) At least we have were given a new 12 months of golf to stay up for... And it can be a quite precise one.
