A lot of information has come out within the past few days, so it is a great time to get all people caught up.
We eventually know who the European Ryder Cup captain can be -- Paul McGinley, who is not so well-known on this facet of the pond but is a familiar name to those people who preserve up with the ET. McGinley's carried out a couple of stints as captain on the Seve Trophy and been a Ryder Cup assistant captain more than one instances as properly. (Do I want to add that he has a variety of enjoy winning team events?) He is also the first-ever Irish captain -- which, I admit, became a shock to me.
The LPGA finally announced its full schedule -- at least, they have announced all the tournaments they know about now. (More are being negotiated and may be added later this year.) There are 28 tournaments so far -- one more than last year -- but there are three new events, plus the Evian becomes the tour's fifth major. Tony Jesselli over at Mostly Harmless has a post that he's been updating as news comes out, so you can get the latest info there.
I'm certain you've heard the professional declaration that Rory McIlroy has joined Nike Golf -- a ten-year, $200million deal in step with the rumors. However, you can not have visible the brand new Nike business with Rory and Tiger having a bit "closest to the pin" competition that escalates right into a hail of golf balls at every type of cup possible. (The trash communicate's quite suitable too.) It's one of the better classified ads lately, so take a glance:
Finally, don't forget that the Dubai event -- in which Tiger and Rory could be paired for as a minimum the primary two rounds -- might be televised on GC starting tonight at 10pm ET.
