Lydia Ko and the LET Are in New Zealand

The LPGA isn't always gambling this week. Rather, the LET is playing the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open in -- wherein else? -- New Zealand. For obvious reasons (i.E., it is now not an LPGA occasion) it isn't always being televised within the US, that is too horrific due to the fact that it would were top time TV. It's simply after midnight right here in North Carolina and the first spherical is nearly entire.

Lydia Ko is back home

They have not published a primary spherical precis yet -- in spite of everything, the first round isn't pretty completed -- however I've cruised thru the scores looking for the "large names" at the leaderboard. "Big call" is a relative time period this week seeing that maximum of the pinnacle Rolex players are taking the week off -- although Lydia Ko, of path, is playing.

The rating breakdown is pretty exciting. The lead is -four and there are 2 players tied, Seonwoo Bae and Stacey Tate.

There are five players in the -3 (T3) grouping, which includes Lydia, Charley Hull, and Sarah Jane Smith.

Another eight gamers are at -2 (T8), 10 gamers are at -1 (T16), and sixteen players are at E (T26). As you could tell, scoring has been quite tight many of the leaders. That's forty one gamers (a 3rd of the sphere) within four photographs of the lead!

Some exquisite names and ratings:

  • Laura Davies, E
  • Melissa Reid, E
  • Christel Boeljon, E
  • Lindsey Wright, +1
  • Titiya Plucksataporn, +1
  • Lorie Kane, +2
  • Gwladys Nocera, +2
  • Trish Johnson, +2
  • Becky Brewerton, +3
  • Minea Blomqvist, +4
  • Katie Futcher, +5
  • Cheyenne Woods, +5
  • Sophie Gustafson, +7
The VOLVIK RACV Australian Masters -- also an LET event -- is next week and that entry list shows a number of players from this week's event, as well as some players like Karrie Webb and Yani Tseng. And since the LPGA event in two weeks (the Australian Open) is co-sponsored by the LET, quite a few of these players are trying to play their way in, so you might want to keep an eye on this event.

The LET leaderboard is at this hyperlink so that you can preserve take a look at in your favourite players.

UPDATE: The Constructivist has further notes on the first round.
