Friday our three OF THE YEARs were finally made official. (Three? Did I say three? Yes I did!)
Our Player OF THE YEAR, no big surprise, was Tiger Woods. While there was a lot of talk about Phil and Adam and even Henrik (was anybody really talking about Kuch?), Tiger was the clear winner here. Five PGA Tour wins including the TPC was far and away the best performance of any player. (Don't forget 2 Top6s in majors and the scoring trophy.)
All the debates over Tiger no longer winning a main sincerely failed to hold water some of the gamers. The World Golf Hall of Fame says a TPC contains same weight to a first-rate, and even the gamers agree that the TPC has a harder field than any principal -- handiest the PGA comes near. I understand the arguments for each Phil and Adam -- Phil won a prime he never anticipated to win, and Adam won the predominant no Australian has ever received -- but Tiger has had hassle with the TPC even when he turned into prevailing majors at a severe clip. Winning it once more (over a decade later) changed into definitely a large accomplishment. Mike McAllister at PGATOUR.Com made that factor in this article (from which the photograph additionally comes).
Our Rookie OF THE YEAR, again no wonder, turned into Jordan Spieth. That whole adventure from no repute everywhere to #7 within the FedExCup pretty an awful lot speaks for itself. It'll be thrilling to see wherein Jordan goes from here, in view that maximum younger overachievers on Tour (or in any recreation, for that matter) appear to hit a sophomore stoop.
And our third OF THE YEAR was the Low European Tour Round OF THE YEAR, posted by none other than Peter Uihlein on the Kingsbarn course at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. (They also play Carnoustie and St. Andrews.) Uihlein almost shot the first-ever 59 on the ET -- and since Kingsbarns is a par-72, he would have had to shoot 13-under to do it. He had an eagle putt on his final hole for the 59 (it would have been his third eagle of the round!) and made a great putt that barely missed. His 60 -- note that he did birdie the final hole to get his score -- is the lowest ET round this season.
You can read approximately Uihlein's accomplishment at this link. And Peter -- who gained earlier this 12 months -- is at -13 overall, simply a couple of photographs off Tom Lewis's lead.
So there they may be, Friday's three OF THE YEAR moments. Only Uihlein's truely counts as a marvel, however they may be all pretty cool.
