This is the "extra" that GC did for last night's Playing Lessons show. Lee Westwood shows Holly Sonders how to play a flop shot... and I'm posting it because his technique is a bit different from other players I've seen.
Westwood performs from a extensive rectangular stance, in place of the narrow open stance favored by many players. I guess that is due to the fact he desires to make certain he's constant as he swings; in case you want to drag off a successful flop shot, accurate touch is critical.
Although he does not mention it, it seems that Lee has the ball simply slightly ahead of the middle of his stance. It's almost (however now not pretty) below his lead ear. I grabbed this photo from the video; it appears that he sets up with the shaft vertical and pointing on the ball and his lead ear (take into account, the club face is open so he is in all likelihood hitting this shot barely off the toe of the membership). His weight is barely on his trailing aspect.
Otherwise Lee is pretty orthodox, playing with an open face, a waist-high swing, and catching the ball at the very bottom of his swing arc so the membership face is pointing nearly immediately up to the sky. You do NOT want to hit down at the ball when you flop. If you do, you will get a rocket over the inexperienced!
This shot will genuinely take a little exercise to study but Lee's method looks quite simple.
If for some purpose the video didn't embed properly, you could discover the original right here.
