This video from LPGA coaching pro Kathy Hart Wood makes a speciality of chipping with a hybrid but -- at the least to me -- this video appears to take a distinctive tack than others on the subject. Here, take a look:
There are two essential matters in an effort to note right here.
- First, playing a hybrid well is mostly a matter of setup. She devotes most of this video to proper setup, so you want to pay attention to that.
- Second -- and I want to stress this, since this stood out to me in her presentation -- this is NOT a shot that you want to use out of the rough. Many times "hybrid chipping" is offered as a generic alternative for dealing with chipping problems, but it's not. Kathy stresses using this method from the short grass and, as you can see, she can use it from quite a distance from the hole!
You stand toward the ball as a end result, so that you may must bend your elbows outward a chunk, and also you want the ball simply in advance of the center of your stance. She says your eyes could be over the ball; meaning your weight is barely in your lead foot. Nothing complex here, just standard quick game method but using your placing stroke.
As for chipping from the green along with your hybrid -- and again, word that she is using a four- or five-hybrid -- this is a method play, something you operate as a conscious decision and no longer just because "I constantly chip with my hybrid." She is using this approach whilst she's were given some floor to cover with the chip.
Very basic info here but, as we've seen with Jordan Spieth's placing struggles these days, fundamental stuff is usually what goes wrong when our video games get out of whack. You might not locate a far less complicated rationalization of hybrid chipping than in this Wood video.
