Today I have a short quote from Gary Player's book, Don't Choke.
Make your plan and stick with it. It's when you pass far from your plan that doubt creeps in. And this is when the seeds of choking are sown.
It's so clean to get sidetracked from what you have set out to do. There are so many elements pulling our minds in extraordinary instructions every single second of each day. It may be the demanding situations of juggling a family along with your profession aspirations. It can be work colleagues feeding you terrible thoughts. It may even be your boss, whose own indecision affects your strategy on a particular venture.
But agree with yourself. After all, it's why you're inside the function you're and receives a commission what you're paid. You are there due to the fact somebody believes for your capability to make top decisions. So believe in your self.
Once you have considered all the necessary information, make your plan and stick to it. [p130] Granted, Player is talking in terms of job expectations here. But the sentiment seems to fit life in general, don't you think?
Most people second-wager ourselves on a everyday basis. And we don't always feel prepared to cope with the various troubles we face each day. But a lot of our doubt does not come from lack of expertise, however from fear of what others may say or definitely due to the fact we suppose we must be ideal. (That's a massive problem in learning to play golf for lots humans as well.)
However, life isn't about being perfect. Nobody is perfect. And most of us worry about things that will never happen. As Player says, once we've considered the necessary information -- the things we need to know -- the best thing to do is make a plan and stick to it. As long as you're willing to adjust when the situation demands it, you'll probably do just fine.
After all, the folks who are a hit of their endeavors are typically the those who simply DO something. And Gary Player is certainly someone who is aware of about that.
