I talk about ball position loads. This video from Troon Golf instructor Tim Mahoney is but another of my tries to make certain you pay attention to it!
The fundamental principle is this:
- If the ball is too far back in your stance, you'll tend to hit it with the face open.
- If the ball is too far forward in your stance, you'll tend to hit it with the face closed.
You'll want to experiment a touch to discover how ball position influences your sport. But as a general rule, if you conflict with a slice you must try moving the ball ahead first. And if you battle with a hook you need to attempt shifting the ball again first. That's good advice from Mahoney.
However, I'm going to take slight issue with his statement that the correct ball position is always two inches inside your lead heel. I agree that's a good place to begin experimenting with ball position FOR A DRIVE, but there are too many different swings out there for only one position to work. If everybody needed the same ball position, then ball position wouldn't be an issue!
Also, undergo in mind that in unique riding conditions you may want to trade the ball position. For instance, if you need to hit a low stinger, you'll probable want to transport the ball back a piece for your stance and tee it decrease.
I write about ball function loads because it can make or smash an in any other case top swing. Take some time to practice with the ball in exceptional positions so you can learn where you get the great effects. And when you locate them, write them down so you'll keep in mind them! Proper deal with position can knock strokes off your rating faster than almost some other alternate you can make.
