As you absolute confidence recognize by now, Tiger made the cut at Jack's Place -- right at the quantity (-1, T64) but he will get a pair more competitive rounds under his belt because of it. That's accurate for enthusiasts as well as for Tiger.
If you look at his rounds by nines, his ratings are up and down -- forty-33, 33-37. I thought Jack's statement -- that he shot 40 to start the Masters that he received through 12 strokes -- become kinda humorous, given how confused the analysts are by means of his choppy play. Their questions hold mounting:
- Will Tiger ever be competitive again?
- What's wrong with his swing?
- He fixed his short game in a few weeks. Why can't he fix that wayward driver?
Golf fans -- both media types and everyday fans -- tend to forget that, a little over a year ago, Tiger Woods was flat on his back, debating whether he should have back surgery and wondering if he would ever be able to play with his kids again. NOT play golf, just play with his kids!
It's true that Tiger has successfully rebuilt his swing commonly, however each time it became a deliberate rebuild. He determined what consequences he wanted, what sort of adjustments he needed to make to get them, and which instructor could nice help him achieve his desires. He did it often sufficient that he could even come up with an estimate of ways long it might take.
But this time is different. This time the swing changes weren't planned -- they were forced by circumstances he hadn't anticipated. This time it wasn't a question of what kind of changes he wanted to make; rather, it was a question of what kind of changes he COULD make. And then he tried to come back too quickly, before his body had adequately healed, simply because he was in unexplored territory and was learning about his new situation as he went.
And, understandably so, making mistakes.
All matters considered, Tiger's recreation seems pretty precise to me. Now that he appears to be wholesome he's starting to play some top nines -- absolutely true nines, given those 33s to this point this week -- and they are scattered in among a few surely uneven play, that you'd anticipate from someone who hasn't been healthful or performed lots aggressive golfing for a year or so. The truth that we're seeing flashes of brilliance so quickly after such dramatic bodily troubles is encouraging to me. After all, I'm on file that I assume Tiger gets lower back to what he once turned into.
Scoring-wise, that is. Of course the way he gets those scores is going to be different, after all the physical problems he's had to deal with, but I still think he'll get back there.
And what does Tiger think?
Well, Tiger says he's at the right song -- even his critics appear to believe him there -- and simply needs to play greater. He gets his desire with more rounds on the Memorial this weekend, in education for the US Open, and he is made it clean that he's going to be playing a lot more regularly within the coming months. I can't wait to peer how he does...
If for no different cause than to peer the media warfare to explain something that appears very simple to me.
