That has been the query all 12 months, with Stacy constantly getting near the lead at activities but having to settle for a runner-up or third-location end.
This week at Blue Bay has turned out to be the equal tale. But this time it's been complicated through the conditions in China, with robust gusty winds and average rankings within the mid-70s.
Stacy entered the final round just a stroke lower back of fifty four-hole co-leaders Candie Kung and Sei Young Kim... And the leaders have been both simply even par. That's right, NOBODY was below par after 54 holes. In fact, best 4 players broke par in the course of the 1/3 round and conditions were not looking to get lots higher.
After her third spherical Stacy instructed LPGA.Com:
?Yeah, it became frustrating. I left lots available. It was playing hard however I played properly. Just didn?T pretty do the little matters proper, so it?S a touch frustrating. But only a couple back, which is ideal. I suppose the climate is going to be even worse the next day, so it?S certainly greater of a mental check than anything.?Earlier in the week she talked about the need to be patient with herself, to take what the course would give her and do the best she could. But even as I write this, she's being tested. GC's live coverage hasn't begun yet but there's already been some action on the leaderboard. Stacy came out and birdied the first two holes, bogeyed the fifth and birdied the eighth to get herself -1 for the tournament. Candie Kung has two birdies and one bogey; she's also -1 for the tournament. Sei Young Kim is still even.
Understand that the first-rate score for the round thus far is -2 and, while several gamers except Stacy are there, none but Stacy is able to win. She's doing what she desires to do if she simply does not begin pushing too difficult, that is possibly the reason she has struggled to close tournaments currently.
By the time you examine this, the event will in all likelihood have wrapped up and we will realize the solution to the question. After 9 holes, Stacy is proper where she desires to be. She has played the back 9 higher than Candie thus far this week and most effective one worse than Kim. Still, with the hard conditions persevering with, you need to wonder if Stacy can stay affected person with herself long enough to ultimately spoil her winless streak.
But there's one thing we know about Stacy Lewis: If she can stay patient, these tough conditions may be just what she needs.
[MORNING UPDATE: Alas, Stacy came up short again. Sei Young Kim snagged her third win of the season... and Stacy is once again runner-up.]
