Katie Burnett got here so close to getting her first LPGA win, but Minjee Lee was on fire in the final round of the LOTTE Championship. It became a completely exciting struggle among Minjee, Katie and In-Gee Chun.
Lee went 6-below at the lower back 9 to shoot a bogey-free spherical of sixty four. Katie held the lead maximum of the day until a bogey at 16 opened the door for Minjee. In-Gee, the protecting US Open champ, made were given within a stroke of the lead but ran out of birdies after 14. She and Katie tied for 2d region, one stroke lower back of Minjee.
Minjee became the 5th player to win two LPGA titles before her twentieth birthday. The others are Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, Marlene Hagge and Sandra Haynie -- of the Founders and two of the "New Breed". I suppose there may be some thing sizeable in that fact.
Katie must take a few nice things from this spherical, as it became her first time ever with a fifty four-hollow lead and she or he failed to disintegrate underneath the strain -- she simply got outplayed. And pretty much all and sundry need to sense a few diploma of fear after In-Gee's finish; no matter the again harm, in her four LPGA begins this season she has long gone T3, 2, T2 and T2. At this rate, that lady's gonna win one quickly!
As for Minjee, she'll be protecting her Kingsmill identify in about five weeks. She definitely seems on shape to do it. With this win she's predicted to move up to #12 within the Rolex Rankings, so some desirable play could actually positioned her inside the Top10 in time for her protection.
