Winner: Daniel Berger
Around the wider world of golf: Ariya Jutanugarn got her first win of the season at the Manulife LPGA Classic; Dylan Frittelli won the Lyoness Open on the ET; Brandt Jobe won the Principal Charity Classic on the Champions Tour; Stephan Jaeger won the Rust-Oleum Championship on the Web.com Tour; Max Rottluff won the Bayview Place Cardtronics Open on the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada; Tee-K Kelly won the Puerto Plata DR Open on the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica; Prayad Marksaeng won the 18th Starts Senior Golf Tournament on the Asian Tour; and Kendall Dye won the Four Winds Invitational on the Symetra Tour.
I suggest no disrespect to Daniel Berger by using any way. It's hard to win in any respect, let alone guard a identify.
But it became surely anticlimactic, wasn't it?
Daniel wasn't even being seriously considered part of the tale on Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. He commenced to date lower back that he completed nearly an hour earlier than the leaders did. But, as I noted the previous day, St. Jude is the Patron Saint of Hope and Impossible Causes. Daniel became 3 photographs returned to begin the day, with a number of players among him and the leaders.
He hacked his way across the first hole, looking extra like a greenskeeper than a player. But then he chipped in for par from almost 26 feet. Hope, you are saying? Impossible reasons, you are saying?
A bogey-free 66 gave him a one-shot victory over the favorites. And as he mentioned in his interview after the spherical, he is now one-for-one in playoffs... And that's pretty true!
There changed into one more thing he stated after his round that I thought turned into very exciting:
"We hear lots about the younger guns and approximately the Justin Thomases and Jordan Spieths, however I experience like I sort of get forgotten a little bit. I'm quite proper, so I'm just going to attempt to maintain doing my component and notice if I can't get a few extra."Yes, Daniel, you ARE pretty good. Perhaps you won't be forgotten so quickly from now on. And with the US Open happening this week, you certainly picked a good time to grab some attention!
Will Daniel win america Open? I don't know. Will he also be a favorite? I do not know that either. But I understand he's simply picked up some other Limerick Summary, and I proportion Daniel's -- and possibly St. Jude's -- hope that he can clutch a few extra:
Daniel gained it again, back-to-lower back,
Though he waited an hour for the p.C.
To understand what he'd finished.
Now he's long gone one-for-one?
He's a title defense crackerjack! The photo came from the tournament page at PGATOUR.com.
