Dr. Patrick Cohn on Escaping Comfort Zones (Video)

I've mentioned Patrick Cohn on this blog before. I have a sports psych book he wrote called Going Low.

Today I observed a video he did that briefly covers a few mental "tricks" that will help you get away of a scoring rut. It's ten years old however the recommendation remains fairly beneficial.

Cohn defines what a consolation region is and how it may restriction you. Then he gives you some techniques for overcoming those barriers. Although the video says it has three mental techniques, there are clearly four:

  • Don't set a target score
  • Don't keep track of your score
  • Don't play defense -- stay on the attack
  • Focus on what you want to do, not what you're afraid you might do
The video also says you can get a free report that teaches you six things players do to sabotage their games. I'm not recommending the report; I find most of these things, although they may have useful info, are more often than not just ways to get you on a mailing list. However, the page still exists after ten years and is apparently still being updated, so for those of you who might be interested, here's the link to the report. If you select to sign in for the down load, you accomplish that at your very own danger!

At any charge, the video has a few useful data that might help you get out of your very own manner and perhaps spoil thru your own scoring restriction. And there's no signal-up shape earlier than you could concentrate!
