With no Twofer Tuesday this week, I decided to hyperlink to a GC article list the players who've so far certified for next 12 months's Masters.
The Top50 within the OWGR at the end of 2019 get automated berths into the 2020 Masters. And that's why you spot Adam Hadwin's image -- in line with calculations, he'll be #50 inside the global when the ball drops in Time Square on New Year's Eve. This might be his 1/3 appearance.
Jazz Janewattananond, who won at the Thailand Masters last week -- and whom I forgot to list in yesterday's Limerick Summary post (that's been corrected now) -- will make his first appearance at Augusta National. He won four times on the Asian Tour this year, enough to move him up to #40 in the world.
At this point 88 players have qualified, that is one more than remaining 12 months's complete field. You can test this hyperlink to peer how the Masters will pick the complete field. There are still some approaches to qualify:
- Winners of PGA Tour events that award a full-point allocation for the season-ending Tour Championship, from previous Masters to current Masters
- The 50 leaders on the Official World Golf Ranking published during the week prior to the current Masters Tournament
- The Masters Committee, at its discretion, also invites international players not otherwise qualified.
Maybe the kids can make records in but any other way this year.
